MUSC 110 - Intro to Notated Music

Hayden Hall, Room 105, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays 10:00-10:50
Class 15Friday, September 27

In this class we did one more review of major scales and key sigs, and we went back to dictation with more success. It was the first class using my computerized dictation system.

There was one homework due, one in process, and one more assigned. We are getting ready for our theory test, which will be Tuesday, Oct 8.

Worksheet #6: More Scales Plus Key Sigs

Worksheet #6 asks you to draw some scales on the staff, and also has a quiz of the "easy" key sigs in the circle of fifths. Pages 26-34 in our theory textbook tell you everything about major scales and key signatures.

This one was due today.

Homework #7: Transposed Melodies II

Worksheet #7 asks you to mark up two melodies that are in bass clef. (Actually it's two versions in the same melody, in different keys.) In order to do this you need to be up on your bass clef (p. 4 in our theory text), solfège (pp. 12-13), and key signatures (pp. 28-34).

This worksheet is due Tues, Oct 1.

Worksheet #8: More Scales and Key Sigs

OK, Worksheet #8 is our last round of homework with scales and key sigs. It includes one scale that you need to write in bass clef, and a make-your-own circle of fifths template that goes as far as 5 flats and 5 sharps.

This assignment is due on Friday, Oct 4.
